Datsun, the budget brand of Nissan, has finally launched its Go+ MPV at Rs 3.79 lakh for the base variant and Rs 4.61 lakh for the top end variant. Datsun will only offer petrol trim for now, and no diesel model will be offered. Datsun has played a big gamble by launching Go+ in the MPV segment, since the earlier attempt to launch a budget hatchback in India didn't go too well.
The multipurpose vehicle (MPV) segment is one of the most looked after segment in India. Most of the vehicles in this segment come with 7-8 seater options, which sadly, Go+ doesn't provide. Go+ MPV is essentially a 5+2 seater vehicle, with the rear 2 seats essentially being child seats. On the styling front, the Go+ MPV looks more or less like the Go hatchback from the front.
The trapezoidal grille and sharp headlamps resemble Go hatchback. The length has been extended to add an extra row of seating. The design is nothing something out of the ordinary, but looks neat and well built. On the interior front, the dashboard is again similar to the hatchback version and is not that great on the built quality. But considering the price Go+ MPV is launched, the overall vehicle may appeal to a certain set of customers.
Under the hood, the Go+ MPV comes with the same 1.2 litre petrol engine as the hatchback. The power mill produces 68 bhp of power and 104 Nm of torque transmitted via a five-speed manual gearbox. Like mentioned above, there is no diesel engine on offer as of yet.
