Nissan India has officially confirmed the launch of Datsun redi-GO on June 7, 2016 in the country. The bookings for the small car have already begun at a token amount of Rs. 5000 at Nissan dealerships across the nation, and even the redi-GO has been spotted at a few dealerships. The redi-GO would be Datsun's new-entry level vehicle and would be priced in a range of Rs. 2.5-3.5 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom). It would rival the Maruti Alto 800, Hyundai Eon, and Renault Kwid in the Indian market.
Underpinning the CMF-A architecture as the Renault Kwid, the redi-GO would come with best-in-segment ground clearance of 185mm. However, it is shorter in length than the Kwid hatch. Just so you know, Renault Kwid measures 3679mm in length. It would boast of decent features like LED daytime running lights, front power windows, power steering, a music system with radio/CD/USB/AUX input and an optional driver airbag. Though, it wouldn't feature a touch-screen infotainment system like the Kwid. Datsun redi-GO would be offered in five paint shades: White, Silver, Ruby Red, Lime and Bronze Gray.
Under the hood, it would have the same 0.8L 3-cylinder petrol motor as the Kwid. The engine would generate power output of 54bhp and torque performance of 72Nm, while mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. Though, an AMT gearbox could be in offing at later stages. The redi-Go would deliver exceptional mileage of 25.17kmpl (ARAI Specified), while being the fastest hatch in the segment to touch the 100kmph mark from standstill in just 15.98 seconds. The redi-GO would be locally manufactured at the Renault-Nissan Alliance plant in Chennai, alongside the Kwid hatch. It would be retailed through Nissan dealer outlets in India.
