Datsun, the cost-effective brand of Nissan, is all set to launch its third product - the redi-GO - in the country. The bookings for Datsun redi-GO are underway at a refundable amount of Rs. 5000 across the Nissan dealer outlets in India. The company has released the official engine specifications and other details of the hatch, just days ahead of its much anticipated launch. It would be priced in a bracket of Rs. 2.5 -3.5 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom), while challenging the highly successful Maruti Alto 800.
The redi-GO measures 3429mm in length, 1560mm in width and 1541mm in height. It is shorter in length and width than the Renault Kwid, but is a bit higher than the Kwid. Datsun redi-GO has a ground clearance of 185mm, which is 5mm more than the Kwid hatch. Being based on the CMF-A (Common Module Family) architecture as the Kwid, it has a slightly longer wheelbase than its Renault sibling. The interior cabin would get a grey dashboard and piano black finish on the centre console. Unlike the Kwid's touch-screen infotainment system, it would get an ordinary music system.
Under the hood, the redi-GO would have the same 800cc 3-pot petrol motor as the Renault Kwid. It would have a maximum power output of 53bhp and peak torque performance of 72Nm. Datsun redi-GO would deliver an outstanding mileage of 25.17kmpl (ARAI Specified), identical to the Kwid. The engine would be linked to a 5-speed manual transmission. There is no word whether the redi-GO would get the AMT gearbox or not. However, Renault Kwid AMT variants are expected to be launched next month - in June 2016 - in India. Just so you know, Renault India had showcased the Kwid 1.0L and Kwid AMT at the 2016 Auto Expo.
