Datsun has officially unveiled the redi-Go hatchback, today in the country and is the third product by the company. The company already has two affordable cars in its line up that includes the GO hatch and Go+ MPV. The redi-Go hatch was first showcased as a concept car at the 2014 Auto Expo and will be the most affordable Datsun car yet. The hatchback will be positioned below Datsun GO.
Based on the Renault Kwid’s CMF-A platform, which is a low cost platform, is an entry level small car that will be positioned under Datsun Go. Not only this, the redi-Go gets the best-in-class visibility for the driver, best in class braking, all new suspension system, with an amazing ground clearance of 185 mm. it also features with round HVAC vents, tall gear lever, three-spoke steering wheel, and front power window controls on the floor console.
The face of the redi-Go features a large grille with chrome garnishing, flanked by sleek headlamps. The redi-Go gets a prominent crease line running from the front bumper further to the taillamps that gives it a crossover appearance. On the sides, the rear-view mirror and B-pillar are coloured in black. Overall, the small hatch is really curvaceous with a clean and simple rear profile. And the company has barely changed the silhouette of the model in the production version.
Speaking of the engine specs, the redi-Go will be powered by an 800cc 3-cylinder petrol motor, capable to deliver 54 PS and 72 Nm of torque, while the power will be transmitted to the front wheel drive through a 5-speed manual gearbox.
The Urban Cross will take on the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 and the Hyundai Eon and is expected to range between 2.5 lakh to 3.5 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Datsun announced that the bookings for the car will start from May 1, 2016 and the car will be launched in the first week of June.
