The Datsun Redi-Go, a low budget hatchback is doing fairly well in the Indian market with its quirky looks and peppy engine. Despite the tough competition from many capable competitors, 10,000 units of the car have already been sold. After the success of this car, Nissan’s sister brand Datsun has decided to launch a sportier limited edition version of Redi-Go which would be named as Redi-Go Sport.
The Redi-Go Sport would be based on the S trim of the car. The cute looking hatchback would be unveiled by 2016 Rio Olympic medalist Ms Sakshi Malik at an event organised by Datsun on 29th September. Till date Datsun has not revealed much about the limited edition Redi-Go. But after going through the teaser pictures, it seems that the hatchback will go through some cosmetic changes such as black decals on the bonnets and doors and blackened wheel covers. The grille of the car would get body paint colour effect which would create a nice contrast with the rest of the styling and designing.
The interior of the car is also likely to get a new touch with a sportier black and red interior theme. One can also expect an updated upholstery and new floor mats as well. However one can not expect too much from this special edition Redi-Go, as Datsun would like to keep the costs as low as possible.
On the engine front the car could be powered by the same 0.8-litre petrol engine which produces 53 Bhp of power and 72 Nm of peak torque. The engine would be further connected with the same 5 speed manual transmission.
After the lukewarm response of the Datsun Go and Go plus, the brand finally managed to taste a bit of success with the Redi-Go in the highly competitive budget hatchback segment. Now Datsun is trying to keep its market share intact in this segment by launching the popular hatchback in a new avatar. Datsun has chosen the festive season to launch the car in a bid to attract more potential car buyers. If you are interested in this peppy car then you can expect it to be priced around 3.50 lakh (ex-showroom).
