Datsun’s recently launched redi-GO Sport will be increased in production, in order to meet growing demand for the limited edition version. Initially, the company limited the variant to 1000 units and has been sold out within a month. Now, it will produce an additional 800 units to meet customer demand and the deliveries will be scheduled next month.
Speaking on this, Arun Malhotra, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd. said,“The Datsun redi-GO SPORT version has generated more demand than anticipated and we are happy to announce that the initially planned 1,000 units have been sold out in less than a month. To meet the high demand and delight our customers, we are announcing an increase in production of the car with a further 800 units.”
Adding to this, he said, “Datsun redi-GO has redefined the value proposition offered to young achievers in India. Now with the success of the Datsun redi-GO SPORT, we plan to continuously update and refresh the redi-GO range in India to offer our customers a unique value proposition.”
Launched as a limited edition, Datsun redi-GO Sport was priced at Rs 3.49 lakh (ex showroom, Delhi). The sporty hatchback was unveiled by the 2016 Rio Olympic medalist Ms Sakshi Malik on 29th September. The car comes with 9 new features, wearing bold black stripes and red accents on the exterior along with all-black interior layout inside. Exterior wise, it comes with sporty graphics, theme grille with red accents, themed wheel cover and sporty roof spoiler. Inside, it gets sporty dashboard, audio system with Bluetooth, rear parking sensor and remote keyless entry.
Under the hood, it is powered by the same 0.8-litre petrol unit that’s good to crank out 53 Bhp of power and 72 Nm of top torque. The powertrain comes connected to a 5-speed manual transmission.
