DC Avanti, the desi-supercar, has been spotted undisguised at a company dealership in Ahmedabad, Gujrat. It has been further revealed through company dealers that deliveries of the much-awaited supercar are eventually going to commence from January 2015 for the buyers who had booked it in advance, quite a long time back. However, the dealers have also started taking fresh pre-orders for the Avanti supercar at a token amount of Rs. 5 Lakhs.
The production version of DC Avanti was unveiled at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo by the tinsel-town diva Kareena Kapoor Khan and company head-honcho Dilip Chhabria. The production ready version had a few modifications in form of lights, bumpers and air intakes as compared to that of Avanti concept that made its debut at 2012 Indian Auto Expo. Various sources have been claiming that this supercar would come with a sticker price of Rs. 35 Lakhs. As known, the Indian design firm is manufacturing it at its Talegaon production facility which has a capacity to wheel out 2000 units annually. The company is also assuring all the new customers to deliver the supercar in and around September 2015, who are booking it now.
Mechanically, it was speculated that it is in-housing Ford’s 2.0-liter turbocharged EcoBoost unit. But, contrary to these reports, fresh rumors have erupted which state that the Avanti is being powered by a Renault-sourced engine. Nevertheless, it should keep its word of accomplishing the 100kmph barrier from standstill in a mere 6 seconds, while having a top speed of 180kmph. Built on a space-frame chassis, this supercar is believed to weigh around 1,580 kg.
