DC Avanti spied undisguised; launch by year end

India's desi-supercar DC Avanti is arriving soon, owing to the completely uncamouflaged spy-shots which were captured recently during its test runs. Folks at Cartoq have managed to click the images of this supercar in Pune. However, in past also, several times, Avanti has been captured as test mule albeit with camouflage but this time it is undisguised and it means that company is finally launching it by the year end.
DC Designs, the Mumbai-based firm, headed by world renowned Mr. Dilip Chhabria, presented the Avanti concept at the 2012 Indian Auto Expo, where Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan unveiled it. It, needless to say, grabbed several eyeballs and people were stunned by its exquisiteness. Almost two years later at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo, production version of Avanti was unraveled by the tinsel-town starlet Kareena Kapoor Khan and the company stated that its deliveries would commence, eventually, by this year but it looks a bit impractical as the overall progress on this so-called 'India's first supercar' has been quite slow.
Under the hood, it has a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged Ford EcoBoost petrol engine which generates a maximum power of 250bhp and 360Nm of peak torque. It is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission which propels it to accomplish the 100kmph barrier from standstill in a mere 6 seconds while attaining an electronically limited top speed of 180kmph. The Avanti gets a double wishbone suspension layout at the front and the rear, with coil springs handling the damping duties in accordance with a ground clearance of 170mm in order to adjust with the potholes and speed brakers. It is being manufactured locally at DC Design's Talegaon factory and initially, 2000 units are expected to be wheeled out, while maintaining a 100 unit per month afterwards. The first 25 units are expected to be priced around Rs. 25 Lakhs, while the latter ones would be costing around Rs. 30 Lakhs. Moreover, the company is eyeing to introduce a more powerful and performance based version of the supercar in future which would in-house a V6 petrol engine, churning out a massive 400bhp.
