December'14 Sales analysis - A Graphical Study

Snapshot: This will be our last graphical analysis of 2014 and we will be bringing something new from the 2015.

And since the December month is over and so is the 2014 year, manufacturers are ready with their monthly sales figures. This will be our last graphical analysis of 2014 and we will be bringing something new from the 2015. Maruti as again, finished the 2014 on a high note, topping the sales figures, but it is Honda who impressed a lot and most of the manufacturers registered a positive growth last year.

We hope that all the manufacturers have a good 2015 and they all do a positive growth than the 2014.

Maruti Suzuki India: Maruti Suzuki recorded a handsome growth of 13.30% in December 2014 as compared to December 2013. Maruti managed to sell 98,109 units in December as compared to 86613 units from the same period last month. While this is definitely an improvement, the sales declined as compared to November when Maruti did 110,147 units. This month's sales figures has yet again proved that Maruti is definitely the king of cars in India and the 51% market share proves the same. 2015 will be a big year for the company and they will be launching a handful of all-new premium vehicles, including the YRA hatchback, S-Cross, YBA Compact SUV and many refreshed versions including the Dzire, Ertiga and much more.

Hyundai Motors India: Only next to Maruti in no time, the Korean manufacturer has shown tremendous growth over years and this month was no different with a recorded growth of 14.70%. Hyundai sold 32504 vehicles in December 2014 as compared to 28345 in the same period previous year. Though the numbers are way less than the November's sales, when Hyundai sold 54,011 units, they were able to get a market share of 17%. Hyundai has not revealed much of their plans for this year, but a big launch will be the much talked about ix25 compact SUV.

Mahindra & Mahindra: M&M, the largest Utility manufacturer in India was able to sell 17311 units in December 2014 as compared to 16436 units in December 2013, recording a minor growth of 5%. Mahindra was able to sell only 13,765 units in November 2014, but held a good 9% market share in the gone month. Mahindra is eyeing on a big success this year with a series of launches, prominent of them is the Mahindra S101 compact SUV, which has been caught testing many-a-times now. Other vehicles include a Xylo MUV in refreshed avatar and an SUV too.

Honda Cars India: Honda India is continuously making huge leaps in terms of sales month-after-months and the December 2014 was no exception. While they posted a 64% growth in Novemeber 2014 selling 15263 units, Honda has registered a whopping 163% growth in December 2014 as against December 2013. Honda managed to sell 14428 units last month as compared to 5493 units for the same period last year. Surprisingly, these numbers are still less than the November sales numbers. Among the launches Honda is planning this year, the Honda Jazz hatchback is the most talked about.

Tata Motors: Tata Motors, the largest Commercial vehicle manufacturer, is back again with a 30% positive growth last month. Tata was able to sell 12040 units in December 2014 as compared to 9272 units for the same period last year. Tata is on a constant track from the last two months selling almost similar vehicles. In November 2014, Tata managed to sell 12021 cars. This year will be big for Tata, as they are now using the HorizoNext concept and Bolt hatchback will be the first car to be launched this month. Other vehicles to follow will be the Tata Kite hatchback that will be replacing the Indica and the Tata Kite sedan which will replace the Indigo CS sedan.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor: Toyota, the other Japanese automajor, posted a growth of 10% in the December  2014, as against the December 2013 sales. This is the second time in a row that Toyota has reported a growth of 10%. Toyota has managed to sell 11740 units last month as compared to 10648 units from the same period last year. This is a dip from the Novemeber sales when Toyota sold 14134 units. Toyota will be launching the much awaited Toyota Rush compact SUV this year.

Ford India: Ford India, is the only manufacturer in the list to record a negative growth. Ford sold only 3754 units in December 2014 as compared to 5871 units of December 2013. In November, Ford managed to sell 12762 units. Ford Ecosport success is now over and they are dependent on the new Endeavour and the all new Ford Figo hatchback and sedan.

Nissan India: Nissan India has shown a good sign of growth in December 2014 with a recorded positive growth of 23.30%. They managed to sell 3158 units last month as compared to 2561 units from the same period last year. Nissan has not disclosed much of the 2015 plans, but they are expected to give facelift to its cars.
