Applying for a driver’s license will be more easy, as Delhi Government is planning to start a doorstep service for documents like driving licenses (DL) and vehicle registration certificates (RC), where this this service could be charged with an additional fee of Rs. 50. Applicants will have to call a helpline number, which is being set up. Once the appointment is fixed, a 'mobile sahayak' will visit their home to fill the online forms. Though, the online form filling services are already active, but there are many people who face difficulties during this process.
If the applicant is applying for a new driving license need to have a learner’s license along with a passport size photograph. As soon as the form is submitted online, the applicants will be provided with a slot for the driving test. The department has also streamlined the process of conducting driving tests. On this, one of the officials said to TOI that most applicants turn up early in the morning for driving tests and have to wait a long time for their turn that also leads to congestion and chaos at the RTOs. For the driving test, applicants will have to visit an RTO. Once this test is cleared, the permanent driving license will be delivered home.
He further added,“Tests are conducted between 8.30am and 2pm, and by staggering the time slots, we will reduce crowding and make the exercise hassle-free for applicants.” He also added that around 100 driving tests will be carried out at each RTO on everyday basis and videographed.
In the same way, the process to get a transfer certificate (TC) will be easier. Here, the applicant will have to submit the original RC, address proof of purchaser along with PUC certificate. The transfer certificate and RC will be home-delivered.
