Over the past few months, Bentley Bentayga has been one of the most secretive products to be on test in the various markets. And the anticipation levels are quite high from the British Marquee as the product is deemed as the 'most luxurious and capable SUV ever'. Bentley Bentayga also marks the beginning of SUV roll out from some of the known luxury brands like the Lamborghini and Rolls Royce.
And it was just about the time that someone leaked the final shape of the product as several low-resolution images of a die-cast model of the Bentayga has surfaced online. What's more interesting is the fact that the 1:18 scale model from China has official Bentley branding over the model. Though, going by the history of Chinese manufacturers, it's not easy to say if the model is genuine or not.
But leaving apart the authenticity of the product, if the design is anywhere near the production model, we are relived to see how Bentley has come as compared to the EXP 9 F concept, the concept on which Bentayga is based, in terms of the design. Bentley Bentayga will make its official debut at the next month's Frankfurt Motor Show.
Coming on to the design of the Bentayga, the luxury SUV has seen to retain the familiar Bentley cues, but has been redesigned as the company's first ever high-riding model, that's completely different from the traditional luxury models. Though, Bentayga will keep the traditional double headlights and the taillights will be similar to those of the Flying Spur.
You can also notice a huge sunroof, a rear spoiler, though not too big and a lot of chrome work. The chrome is used from the roof rails, to window closings, taillight boundary, number plate boundary and a large line over the rear bonnet, and side mounted linings. The front is adorned with a silver/gray mesh grille pattern on the front grille, air vents as well as on the lip of the bonnet.
Talking of the engine, the Bentayga will be based on the second-gen Audi Q7 and will be powered by a new twin-turbo W12 6.0-litre engine that produces 608 PS and 900 Nm of torque. Bentley may also launch a twin-turbo V8 and quite possibly a turbo diesel unit. Other details about performance and gearbox is yet to come.
While the Bentayga will make its debut next month, chances are that it will be revealed in the coming months and the sale will start from the next year.
