Honda’s mid-size sedan, City has helped the company to grow by 30 percent for April 2014 over the same period last year. Honda managed to sell 11,040 cars in April and 7,044 of these were the City sedans. The company sold 8,488 units in the corresponding month last year. Honda had launched the City early this year with a 1.5-litre diesel engine and this fuel efficient engine has been the key to Honda’s strong numbers. The City’s popularity in the Honda stable can be seen from the fact that it has managed to sell twice the number of its sibling, the Amaze, which found 3,355 households last month.

According to Jnaneswar Sen, seniore VP, marketing and sales, Honda Cars India, “we have started the financial year 2014 - 15 on a positive note and would like thank our customers for the fantastic response to the all-new Honda City. We also celebrated the 1st anniversary of Honda Amaze by introducing the anniversary edition and we are confident of its good sales in this fiscal as well.”
