Volkswagen India has done them some reshuffling at the top management. The German auto giant has appointed Dr. Andreas Lauermann as the new President & Managing Director with effect from 1st July, 2015. Lauermann will replace Mahesh Kodumudi, who assumed the position on 1st March, 2013. Mr. Mahesh will move to the Volkswagen Group of America.
Dr. Andreas Lauermann received his doctorate degree from the University of Passau and Technical University Munich. His past assignment includes working with TCW Tranfer-Centrum for Production Logistics and Technology Management. He then moved to Volkswagen AG in 1997 and has been holding key positions in the company since then.
He worked in the Industrial Engineering department in Volkswagen, Wolfsburg, Autoeuropa, Portugal before moving to Volkswagen Argentina in Pacheco as the General Manager of the RPU Division. He then led the Central Industrial Engineering of the VW Group and then the Central Planning in China. In 2015 he became a part of the Central Group Production Strategy and Planning.
Mahesh Kodumudi, on the other hand, did his Engineering and Management degrees in India and the USA. He joined the Volkswagen Group in 2008 and was appointed the Executive Director - Corporate Purchase, Volkswagen India. He then became the Chief Representative of the VW Group India in 2014. He will continue to act as an Advisory to the VW India in the coming months.
