DSK-Hyosung to launch updated GT300R and GT650R by Mid 2016

Snapshot: The new 2016 Hyosung GT300R and GT650R are coming to Indian in June 2016!!

Ever since we got the news that Hyosung would be showcasing new products at EICMA 2015, we were eagerly waiting to see what Hyosung has up its sleeves to match with its more famous rivals. We have always believed that Hyosung has a product portfolio that should be way more appreciated than it is right now and the fact that Hyosung is simply the oldest premium bike maker to be present in India, it deserves more love from the Indian consumers.

Now, we have talked in detail how incredibly potent in absolute madness the previewed Hyosung GD450 promises to be, but that wasnt all, the new upgraded GT300R and the GT650R in all new design also showcase potential to get newer larger segment of customers to the brand fold in India, when launched.

Now, in an interview with BikeAdvice, Shirish Kulkarni, Chairman DSK-Motowheels, has said that the updated 2016 GT300R and the GT650R will be launched in India by Mid 2016. As per Shirish, the showcased GT twins would need another 5-6 month to be completely production ready and that means the bike will be scheduled for a around June 2016 launch.

Set to replace the aging GT250R, the GT300R uses a re-bored version of the GT250R's engines and now displaces 275 cc  and just like the older outgoing model, it features a 75 degree V-twin engine with DOHC and eight valves which is good enough to produce  28Ps@10,500 rpm and 23.5Nm@7,000 rpm. This time around too, the transmission will be a 5 Speed affair, however, we will get ABS as standard on the GT300R for 2016 as against the present model with doesn't have abs even as an option. Both engines are offered with a five-speed gearbox. This same engine will also power the 2016 Hyosung GV300 Aquila, which will be replacing the current HYosung GV250 Aquila.

On the other hand the updated GT650R will be powered by the same engine unit producing 74.4 PS and 54.4 Nm of peak torque which is slightly more than the current model. Both the GT300R and the GT650R for 2016 model year feature a complete redesign on the aesthetic side, and the new design is more organically flowing and we loved especially the rear half of the bike, making it sleeker which is a welcome change, and should see a lot more customers coming to the showrooms in near future.
