EICMA 2015 - Video - Suzuki showcases 2017 GSX-R1000 in Concept Form!
Snapshot: Finally Suzuki is k=joing superbike wars with an updated GSX-R1000 and it looks pretty...
Ever since Suzuki came back to racing we had been waiting for the iconic GSX-R1000 to get a new model year update. With Suzuki showing a clay concept of the future of Suzuki designs, our belief in the arrival of a all new Suzuki superbike strengthened and EICMA 2015 seemed to be a perfect place where we could finally see Suzuki come out of dormancy and update its legendary superbike that has captured imagination of racers and riders alike since decades now.
And arrived it did, albeit in a concept form and as per the rumours it is what Suzuki will launch as the 2017 model replacing the current age old GSX-R1000, and it should debut mid 2016 around as the 2017 model year superbike from Suzuki to rival current crop of superbikes from its Japanese counterparts and European competitors.
Now the interesting thing is, the GSX-R1000 concept shown at EICMA 2015 should bring smiles on every Suzuki fan around the globe, since, Suzuki is quoting that the 2017 GSX-R1000 will be the lightest and most powerful superbike ever from the Japanese manufacturer and saying that it should be the most advanced too. Scheduled to arrive with the new Suzuki litre class is Variable Valve Timing (VVT) and the bike will have electronic aids like 10-level traction control system, launch control, three different riding modes probably handled by a ride-by-wire system and alongwith all this there will be a quick-shifter as well that allows for seamless upshifts and downshifts.
Adding further to the impressive collection to the GSX-R1000 is what Suzuki is calling, "Broad Power System”, something that helps Suzuki to have more power throughout the rev range with effective exhaust tuning. Suspension duties will be done by Showa's “balance free” forks up front, and a “balance free rear cushion” rear shock. Other details are pretty scarce at this point, likely as Suzuki is still finalizing the production version of the 2017 Suzuki GSX-R1000.
