Erik Buell Racing, the Hero MotoCorp's technology partner, has unveiled its new naked superbike 1190SX during a press meet conducted in Indianapolis, US. EBR however has not gone deep into revealing the technical details of 1190SX and only announced to launch the model before the end of this year. As seen in the images, the 1190SX seems an absolute naked counterpart of its 1190RX sibling that was being showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo India earlier this year.
Being a naked version of the 1190RX, the 1190SX shares most of the mechanical bits with it. Though, the company hasn't confirmed anything as yet but apart from the minimal body work and new one-piece handlebar, rest of the bike seems similar to the 1190RX. The bike is built around a twin-spar chassis and is powered by a 1190cc, 72 degree v-twin, water-cooled engine, both taken from the 1190RX. This engine produces 185bhp of power and 138 Nm of torque at the 1190RX which gets transferred to the rear wheel via a 6-speed transmission that also features anti-slipper clutch system.
The 1190SX is highly likely to have same amount of might on its tap, though the unit could be retuned to make the low-end range stronger. Stopping power is the courtesy of 386mm, 8 floating piston unit at front and 220mm disc at the rear. Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa rubber at both ends keep the bike stick on road.
The 1190RX is well-known for its agile handling and impeccable performance which is also expected from this new street fighter. EBR hasn't confirmed the exact launch date of the 1190SX but it will enter the US market before the end of 2014. The bike will be a direct competitior to the likes of the BMW Motorrad S1000R and KTM Super Duke 1290R.
