Erik Buell Racing goes to Isle of Man with two 1190RSs
Snapshot: The company, in which Hero MotoCorp has 49.2 of stake, plans to compete in the reputed IOM TT this year for the first time
Most of the Indian bike enthusiasts won't even consider it anything as significant, but we are proud of what we just came to know. Partly owned by Hero MotoCorp, the Erik Buell Racing is heading to Isle of Man to compete in the death defying IOM TT with two of its superbikes, the 1190RSs.
This is the first time when Erik Buell machines will be used in the event. A British road racing team, Splitlath Motorsports, has decided to have an all-American lineup for this year with the 1190RSs and two American riders Mark Miller and Brandon Cretu. These riders, however, are not new to the deadly mountain course.
This is Miller's fourth consecutive year with Splitlath at the IOM TT, and he also holds the record of the fastest lap by any American at 125.507 mph.
The second rider, Cretu, recorded a fastest lap of 117.8 mph around the course last year and is looking to significantly improve it this time.
Team Splitlath will compete in three races namely Dainese Superbike, RL 360 Superstock and PokerStars Senior TT.
The event that starts on 24th of this month will last over a fortnight. This is also the first time for an Indian manufacturer to be associated with the IOM TT.
