India first multi-utility Rural Transport Vehicle and Tractor-driven Mini sugarcane harvester even on display.
Hybrid technology has now moved from powering cars to farm utility vehicles like tractors, backhoe loaders, and rural multi-utility transport vehicles. Esclusive 2019 saw the launch of these three exclusive environmentally-friendly vehicles by Escorts on September 07, 2019.
India’s first hybrid concept tractor will now run on both diesel and electricity. Though Escorts has launched the tractor in the 70 to 75HP range, it can be boosted to 90HP because of the hybridisation feature. Therefore, you have a farm utility vehicle that not only reduces emission but also increases customer efficiency.
Escorts’ Hybrid tractor features four operating modes. The hybrid model uses both diesel and electricity for its propelling. The tractor can also function purely on the strength of batteries. This mode eliminates emissions altogether. The ICE Direct mode operates as a conventional tractor using an Internal Combustion Engine. Finally, the plug-in mode is the one that enables charging of the vehicle through a standard wall socket.
Apart from the hybrid tractor, Escorts displayed the hybrid backhoe loader. Though working on a 50HP engine, this loader can provide up to 75HP of power to improve productivity, efficiency, and reduce carbon emission. The Regenerative mode recharges the battery when excess energy is available in the engine. This vehicle works in three modes, Hybrid, Electric-Excavator, and ICE-Diesel.
To increase mobility in rural farming and enable manoeuvring in hard terrain, Escorts introduced India’s first multi-utility Rural Transport Vehicle, the Rider. This vehicle comes with an optional 4WD mode and offers a payload capacity of 750kg.
Nikhil Nanda, CMD Escorts Ltd, opined that such smart solutions were necessary for reducing emissions and improving fuel efficiency and boosting agricultural output.
