Last week, 2017 Maruti Ciaz facelift was spotted undisguised at NEXA outlet in New Delhi, indicating that the launch is imminent. Now, through our reliable sources, we have learnt that the 2017 Ciaz has silently gone on sale. Although, the company hasn't officially launched it, but a couple of dealerships in Jaipur, Rajasthan have initiated the deliveries of the facelifted model. The 2017 Ciaz facelift comes with a handful of styling updates, while mechanically it retains the same set of powertrains.
The biggest update in the refreshed sedan comes at the rear end, where the 'Maruti Suzuki' emblem and 'variant name' have been removed. Instead, the sedan now flaunts 'Maruti Suzuki' logo in middle, while at the right side, it boasts of the 'SHVS' badging. The aforementioned update clearly states that the Ciaz sedan would no longer be sold via regular Maruti dealerships but would join the likes of Baleno and Ignis at the NEXA premium chain of dealerships. Speaking about the changes at the front fascia, the 2017 Maruti Ciaz facelift now gets projector headlamps and chrome surroundings at the fog lamp enclosures. The front grille and bumper are carried over from the ongoing model. The side profile is retained from the current model with the same design of alloy wheels.
Mechanically, the 2017 Ciaz facelift would continued to be powered by the 1.4L 4-cylinder K14B petrol engine and 1.3L 4-cylinder DDiS 200 diesel engine. Both the engines would be offered with a 5-speed manual transmission as standard, while a 4-speed automatic gearbox would be available with certain variants of petrol fuel trim. The model in images seems to be the mid-variant and we have been informed that it comes at an approx. price of Rs. 11 Lakhs (On-road, Jaipur). Originally, Maruti Ciaz was expected to go on sale in April or May this year, but the stupendous response to the recently launched 2017 Honda City facelift has propelled the company to pre-pone the launch and start the deliveries.
