It was not long before Chevrolet India announced the launch of Trailblazer SUV in India in 2015. Since then, the SUV has been spied testing multiple times, albeit heavily camouflaged. Now, one of our avid readers Pranav Tripathi has spotted the Chevrolet Trailblazer as test mule in Lucknow at Mahanagar. It is expected that the company would launch the SUV in the second half of 2015.
It is still not known that whether Chevrolet India would manufacture the SUV locally or bring it via the CBU route. But, the local assembly at Halol, Gujrat plant would certainly help it to price the SUV competitively against its rivals. The Detroit-based automaker just launched the updated 2015 Trailblazer in markets like Philippines and Thailand with better NVH levels and added features. India is also going to get the aforesaid model in diesel fuel trim by the festive season this year. The 2015 Chevrolet Trailblazer features MyLink touchscreen infotainment system and a piano-black finish for the center console. Trialblazer's foremost foes such as Ford Endeavour and Toyota Fortuner are also heading for an update; while the former would launch by 2015 end, the latter would be arriving early 2016.
Currently, GM offers the Trailblazer with 2.5L as well as 2.8L diesel engines in Thailand and Philippines. However, the India-spec model is expected to be powered by the more powerful 2.8L diesel engine, which generates a maximum power of 200bhp and peak torque of 500Nm. It would be paired with both 6-speed automatic and manual gearboxes with an all-wheel-drive system. The company would also launch the Spin MPV in the country in 2016 in an attempt to cover some lost ground.
