In what comes as a shocker for Ford EcoSport lovers and potential owners, the bookings for the car has been stopped.
The American manufacturer has put an indefinite pause to the bookings and there is no info as to when it will re-open. Earlier the company had increased the waiting period on all models with some stretching as long as 270 days! However, Ford has now stopped taking bookings across all models entirely in pan-India.
The EcoSport is a brilliant big-little car which has clearly indicated an oncoming rise of an entirely new segment called the Compact or Urban SUV. The car has been internationally acclaimed for its engine technology and witty engineering and has won many accolades.
We attribute this decision by Ford to the record display of performance by the car in the Indian market. Recieved with over 30,000 bookings when it was launched, the EcoSport has been a game changer for Ford and its no surprise that Ford underestimated the response for the car. With the production running on full steam, it seems Ford is still not being able to meet the huge demand of the compact SUV, hence calling off the bookings for now.
The Ford EcoSport comes in ten models with four trim lines, namely Ambiente, Trend, Titanium and Titanium (O). Engine options include a 1.5 litre TiVCT petrol, the award winning 1.0L Ecoboost petrol and a 1.5 litre TDCi diesel. A 5 speed manual transmission is standard in all variants with an option of a four speed automatic gearbox plonked to the 1.5 litre petrol mill. As it's less than 4 metres in length, Ford has priced it rather aggressively.
