The Japanese bike maker, Kawasaki has today launched it’s highly awaited Vulcan S cruiser in the Indian market at a price tag of Rs 5.44 lakh (ex-showroom). The bike makes way to India after a long wait of almost 2.5 years after launch speculation of the same started mid-2015. It has finally been launched and that too at a very competitive price tag, giving Indian cruiser enthusiasts an additional option in form of a Japanese counterpart.

On the launch of a new motorcycle, Mr. Yutaka Yamashita, Managing Director of India Kawasaki Motor, said ”After our sports bikes, tourer bikes, naked bikes & off road bikes settled in India, we felt it was a right time for us to bring this cruiser in the market. There cannot be a better way to start a new year by introduction of our world-wide known Vulcan brand.”

Adding further Mr. Yutaka Yamashita states “FUN TO RIDE is Kawasaki’s global ideology, which perfectly fits to Vulcan S.  It is different than any other cruiser mainly because of its powerful, yet easy-to-control engine, easy manoeuvring, lightweight, yet stable, and highway riding and important to mention 14 litre fuel tank with good fuel economy.”

The bike competes against the Harley-Davidson Street 750 and Street Rod, and is straight away much cheaper than the Ducati Scrambler or Triumph Bonneville series of motorcycles.

It basically runs on the 649cc 4-stroke, 2-cylinder, DOHC, liquid-cooled engine delivering 60bhp of maximum power at 7,500rpm and 62.7Nm of peak torque at 6,600rpm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed transmission. It has been housed around high-tensile steel diamond frame and weighs over 235kgs (curb weight).

The bike comes with 14 liters of fuel tank that should provide a decent range for long highway rides and is comparable to what other bikes offer in the same range. It comes loaded with dual piston 300mm front disc and single piston 250mm rear disc brakes with ABS.
