We at Autportal cover cars and talking about the flyway races, F1 is our favourite form of Motorsports, but there are some racers from different aspect of the game who like to race in a car too. One such sports personality is the eight time MotoGP world champion, Valentino Rossi, who had a controversial 2015 season.
Rossi was given three penalty points from Race Direction for 'irresponsible riding' after taking Marquez out of the Malaysian Grand Prix making a bitter quarrel between the two. Adding previous penalty point for blocking in San Marino GP qualifying, causing a back of the grid start for Rossi in the Valencia racing, where he lost the championship to Yamaha rival Jorge Lorenzo.
Now a recent statement by kingpin Bernie Ecclestone has again brought the matter into limelight. "Rossi would have been disqualified for sure", Ecclestone told Gazzetta dello Sport. "Or he would have been shown the black flag" and he also added "I'll give you an example: let's suppose Ferrari is en route for the title and Mercedes block them with one of their customer teams, what would happen then?"
While F1 figures were split on Rossi’s actions following the Sepang incident, Sebastian Vettel was was adamant that "Valentino did absolutely the right thing", while Felipe Massa said "I am a big fan of Valentino but he made a mistake".
Switching his career in F1 in the mid-2000’s, Rossi tried completing several tests with Ferrari before committing his future to motorcycles. He will also take on factory Hyundai World Rally Championship driver Thierry Neuville in this weekend's Monza Rally.
