Ferrari and Maserati are big names in the Supercar market making vehicles so desirable, that people swear by their gorgeous looks. Both Maserati and Ferrari entered the Indian market through official channels by appointing Shreyans Group as their official importer. But the things didn't go too well and the partnership eventually ended up in a disaster with both Maserati and Ferrari pulling the plug from their India operations.
It seems like Ferrari and Maserati are again contemplating to re-enter the Indian car market. Their Italian-American Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) Group is keen to bring back these Italian marques as there is great opportunity in the high-end car segment in India. According to recent reports, both the brands are almost in the final stages of talks.
Maserati will open a national sales company in India first and has already started the proceedings and is currently in the process of appointing an eight-member team for the same. After that, it would decide on a dealership and start selling its range of cars in India, starting from the second half of 2015 according to the current plans.
Ferrari on the other hand will manage its Indian operations from Dubai. Ferrari is in talks with the Yadur Kapoor Group to open its principal dealership in Delhi and Navnit Motors in Mumbai. Ferrari is likely to bring its models such as the California T- convertible, V-12 FF, 458 Italia, F12 Berlinetta, 458 Spider and the La Ferrari to India.
