Ferrari claims double podium as Vettel wins the Singapore GP

Snapshot: Sebastian Vettel won the night race, his third this season and fourth win in Singapore.

The Singapore Gran Prix is considered to be one of the most thrill filled Formula One race in a season, give the fact that it is night racing. And the same happened at the 2015 Singapore GP today, which was filled with much action and drama. And Sebastian Vettel won the night race, his third this season and fourth win in Singapore.

The race also saw Lewis Hamilton, current season leader retiring for the very first time in 2015 due to a technical snag in his Mercedes F1 car. Vettel took the lead from Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo by 1.4s, and his team mate at Ferrari, Kimi Raikkonen came third, giving a long ado double podium finish to Ferrari, their first since 2013.

The Singapore GP saw safety-car come and punctuate race fro two times during the race. Nico Rosberg secured fourth spot driving the second Mercedes ahead of Williams’ Valtteri Bottas and Red Bull’s Daniil Kvyat. Force India's Sergio Perez finished seventh, followed Max Verstappen in the Toro Rosso and Sauber’s Felipe Nasr, hence completing the points finishers.

As for the Safety cars, the first came during the lap 14 when Force India’s Nico Hulkenberg had a brush with the Williams of Felipe Massa. The second incident took place on the lap 37 when an errant spectator trespassed on the track. Total 9 racers were able to score points, while 6 of the racers were not able to finish the race.

Another noteworthy mention here would be the debut of Alexander Rossi, who started his career with team Marussia, and secured 14th spot at the Singapore Grand Prix. Considering the fact that he finished ahead of his team mate Will Stevens, who became the youngest F1 driver to debut in the 2015 season, this is a good start.

After the race, Lewis Hamilton remains at the top with 252 points, while his team mate Nico Rosberg closed in at 211 points, reducing the gap to 41 points. The win pushed Vettel ahead in the standing and he sits at third with 203 points. On the constructors' table, Mercedes leads with handsome 463 points, while Ferrari is trailing by 153 points at 310 points.
