It's not easy for luxury or supercar manufacturers to come in India and do business. While the rules and norms are way too strict, it is also the investment that goes on doing business in our country. Consider this, you are going to sell only a handful of cars, and engaging the full resources won't make any sense. This is why such manufacturers tie hand with importers who help them establish in India.
That said, these collaborations always turn up sour, and manufacturers always blame the importer for not adhering to service or sales procedures. Something of these sorts happened with the Italian Stallion, Ferrari, who had to cut off their deal with Automobili Italia. And now they are re-entering the country (we reported this a couple of months back) with Select Cars Pvt. Ltd. in Delhi and Navnit Motors in Mumbai.
Ferrari has revealed an official price list to sell cars in India, according to Zigwheels, and the prices will be as follows (ex-showroom, Mumbai)-
Ferrari California T – Rs 3.30 Crore
Ferrari 488 GTB – Rs 3.84 Crore
Ferrari 458 Spider – Rs 4.07 Crore
Ferrari 458 Speciale – Rs 4.25 Crore
Ferrari F12 Berlinetta – Rs 4.72 Crore
Interestingly, Ferrari has mentioned prices for the 458 and 458 Speciale, along with the 488 GTB. Ferrari actually has stopped the production of 458 to make way for the 488 GTB. Ferrari has also not mentioned the Ferrari FF, which is way more practical car than any of the Ferrari models according to Indian road conditions.
While Ferrari is facing problems with dealers most of the time, Lamborghini and Porsche has established a strong foothold in the country. But it's never too late for a company like Ferrari, who attracts a lot of fan base in India.
