Ferrari has taken off the Wraps of its convertible version of the LaFerrari ahead of its 2016 Paris motor show reveal. The brand has officially released the first set of images of the drop-top online. While the name and technical characteristics of the new car will be announced at the Paris International Motor Show and also the number of examples, Ferrari proposes to build. Though, the brand has have already sold all available examples after a special preview to clients.
The LaFerrari Spider gets a removable carbon-fibre hard top and a soft top, where as the company’s recent convertible models - the 488 Spider and the California T, have folding hard-tops, this is due to the due to shed away some extra weight and the tight packing of the mid-mounted V12 engine and hybrid system that will of course, making it speed thirsty on the road.
The Spider also gets some extensive updates to its carbon fibre chassis so as to retain the same torsional rigidity and beam stiffness, just as its coupé sibling. The aerodynamics of the car also gets some modifications to deliver the same drag coefficient even without the roof.
Interesting part is here, the new limited edition special series is power packed with a 6.2-litre naturally aspirated V12 engine paired with an electric motor that pumps out a combined power of 949bhp and a maximum torque under 900Nm. While the performance figures have not been revealed but undoubtedly it will be close to the coupé version that can bolt from 0 - 100kmph in 2.9 seconds, before hitting the electronically limited top speed of 350kmph.
