LaFerrari was dubbed as the most ambitious project ever from the house of Ferrari and it definitely took the world by storm. Ferrari also hinted for a LaFerrari XX, a more powerful variant for this Hybrid Supercar, and now they have officially unveiled the FXX K ahead of its debut during the Finali Mondiali event in Abu Dhabi. The 'K' in its moniker refers to KERS kinetic energy recovery system it houses.
What makes FXX K stand out of the crowd is the engine it houses under the hood. The 6.2 litre V12 unit will unleash a maximum output of 860 ps , while the electric motors will contribute 190 ps. In all, the FXX K will be able to produce a mammoth of 1050 ps power and 900 Nm.
Ferrari has extensively reworked on the mechanicals of the car and comes with new camshafts and a modified valve train with mechanical tappets. The silencers are eliminated in lieu of a modified exhaust system. And then there is the famous KERS system, which comes with four different modes: Qualify Mode, Long Run Mode, Manual Boost Mode, and Fast Charge Mode.
While Ferrari claims that the changes in the engine and mechanicals is enough to take the car to the next level, they have left no stone unturned to make the design productive too. And they have succeeded in doing so much so that now there is a 50% improvement in down force resulting in a figure of 540 kg at 200 km/h.
To achieve so, they have introduced an endplate and a dive plane, which, together with the vertical fins, channel the air towards the car’s flanks, generating “a longitudinal vortex that creates a localized depression”. The rear section will be sitting higher now, with a mobile spoiler housing a small wing on each side.
The FXX K will be offered to an exclusive group of clients and the prices and production numbers will be declared after the official launch.
