Fiat India has finally introduced its high-performance Abarth brand in the country by launching the 595 Competizione at a sticker price of Rs. 29.85 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, New Delhi). The Abarth 595 Competizione would be retailed via CBU route and the three-door hatchback would host several premium features. In addition, the Italian automajor also showcased the Abarth Punto, which is confirmed to launch around the festive season of Diwali this year.
The exterior designing of Abarth 595 Competizione is inspired from Fiat 500 Cinquecento, while the body is madeup of steel. There are Xenon headlamps, Monza exhaust systems, and 17-inch alloy wheels on offer as standard. Speaking on the launch, Kevin Flynn, President and Managing Director, FCA India Automobiles Pvt. Ltd. said, " We are extremely pleased to introduce the iconic Italian brand - Abarth from Fiat Chrysler Automobiles' stable to our customers in India. The flagship model Abarth 595 Competizione, a sports performance coupe, is renowned world over for its sheer performance, iconic style and rich heritage. With this launch, we are hoping to bring this same legacy to our Indian customers and are confident that Abarth would provide a superior driving experience."
Inside the cabin, there is a small leather-wrapped multi-funtion steering wheel with paddle shifters. In addition, there are well contoured racing style leather seats for added comfort. The 595 Competizione comes with two driving modes - Normal and Sport. Moreover, several avant-garde features in form of electric sunroof, torque transfer control (TTC), 7-inch TFT instrument cluster, and Blue & Me handsfree system with USB port. The hatch is being available in four exterior paint schemes: Iridato White, Scorpione Black, Cordolo Red, and Campovolo Grey.
Under the hood, Abarth 595 Competizione has a 1.4L T-Jet engine which develops a maximum power output of 158bhp and peak torque of 230Nm between 2750-3000rpm. The engine is linked to a 5-speed AMT unit, which propels the hatch to touch the 100kmph mark from standstill in a mere 7.6 seconds, while topping out on 210kmph. "Additionally, we will also bring in another performance oriented hatchback in the Abarth range by introducing India's first hot hatch Punto Abarth which is locally made. India is a strategic market for us and this in an integral part of our commitment to widen our portfolio and to provide greater value not only to our customers but other stakeholders as well," added Flynn.
