Fiat India would unveil the Abarth 595 Competizione tomorrow at the Autocar Performance Show in Mumbai. It's no longer a secret that the company would launch the aforementioned performance car in the country by the end of December 2014. Limited units of Fiat Abarth 595 Competizione would be sold in India and it would be the first vehicle in the county to flaunt the Scorpion (Abarth) badge.
Abarth 500 Competizione measures 3,657 mm in length, 1,627 mm width and 1,485 mm in height. Talking about exteriors, it sports redesigned bumpers, alloy wheels and graphite finish for the ORVMs, apart from the Abarth symbol at the front. Inside the cabin, the small car features sports bucket seats alongside flat bottomed steering wheel, machined alloy pedals and a graphite treatment for the dashboard. In addition, it has a LCD display in place of instrument cluster as standard feature. Fiat is expected to price it in a range of Rs. 25-30 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom) and it would be at loggerheads with the recently launched new 3-door Mini Cooper. The Autocar Performance Show is scheduled to take place from December 11-14, 2014.
Talking about the powertrain and transmission, Abarth 595 Competizione in-houses a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol motor which belts out a decent power of 158 bhp and 210Nm of top torque. However, the torque can be further enhanced up to 230Nm by choosing the 'Sport' mode. The engine is coupled with a 5-speed AMT gearbox and no optional manual transmission variant is on offer. It would be brought in the country via CBU route and hence, would be sold in limited numbers.
