Fiat India launched the Avventura crossover yesterday in Delhi with starting prices of Rs. 5.99 Lakhs and Rs. 6.89 Lakhs for petrol and diesel variants, respectively. Being based on the Punto platform, it is the company's third product launch this year out of the four products that it intends to launch in the country. The Avventura, even prior to its arrival, registered around 500 advance bookings and around 15000 inquiries, revealed Nagesh Basavanhalli, Fiat India Boss, at the launch event.
Fiat India, President, Nagesh Basavanhalli, also confirmed that general waiting period on Avventura crossover is around 2 weeks, depending on the color, variant and city. Although, the Fiat Boss was quite optimistic regarding the sales of Avventura and expected larger sales during festive season with immediate deliveries. He also spilled the beans on the much awaited Abarth 500 by saying that it's on the way before December this year. The Fiat Abarth 500 is company's first model under the performance division Abarth, and later it would also launch the Abarth Punto in India. It is also the fourth and final product that Fiat intends to launch in 2014, before heading into the new year with a new line-up of cars waiting to be launched in India, including the keenly awaited Jeep brand.
Being a sub 4-m crossover, the Fiat Avventura shares its engines with the Punto EVO in both the petrol and diesel guise. The petrol variants are powered by a 1.4L FIRE engine, while the diesel variants are equipped with a 1.3L Multi-jet engine. Both the engines are coupled with a 5-speed manual transmission to maximize fuel efficiency and performance. Fiat claims a fuel efficiency of 14.4kmpl and 20.5kmpl for petrol and diesel guises, respectively. Also, the company is offering the 16-inch alloy wheels as standard feature across the entire range of Avventura crossover to maintain its sporty and stylish image.
