Fiat India has launched their newest baby, the Avventura Urban Cross in the crossover segment. The crossover is priced at Rs 6.85 lakh, the car comes with tweaked interiors and slightly redesigned exteriors. The most notable difference between the Urban Cross and the Avventura is that the former doesn’t get a tailgate mounted spare wheel, which makes the car lighter by 40kgs than the regular offering.
The Urban Cross is available in both Petrol and Diesel avatar. The diesel variant is available in two trims and both of them are powered by same 1.3- liter Multijet engine which produces 93 Ps of power. On the other hand the top of the line petrol variant is powered by a 1.4-liter T-jet engine which is powered by Abarth and it makes a massive 140 Ps. Both the mill is connected to a sleek 5 speed manual transmission which is a joy to use.
Fiat Avventura Urban Cross is a third variant of the decently popular Punto hatchback after the Punto Evo and Fiat Avventura. However the styling of the Urban Cross is toned down than the Avventura cross hatch. It also loses out some elements from the prototype version including the LED DRLs, chrome finish on the Grille, and the 17-inch alloy wheels replaced with 16-inch alloys. The Urban Cross comes with a beefy body cladding which makes the car look more rugged. For aggressive looks, a spoiler is standard across the variants, in addition to the roof rails and side body cladding. The Abarth version has got a sportier scorpio alloy wheels and special badging across the crossover.
In terms of dimension the Urban Cross is 4000 mm in length, 1700 mm in width and 1500 mm in height, the cross also posses a massive ground clearance of 205mm. With massive ground clearance and rigid body cladding the Urban Cross can tackle bad roads better.
The Avventura Urban Cross gets dual tone interior, central door locking system, rear ac vents, front ‘smart’ power windows which will roll even after switching off the engine. A smartech 6-inch ICE with satellite navigation and Bluetooth telephony has been provided across the range.
For the upcoming festive season the Cross will be offered in Burgundy interiors with colour co-ordinated door pockets, piano finish arm rests and designer seats. However the interior package is available as an option only in Dynamic diesel and Emotion petrol variants.
