FCA India has begun shipping Made-in-India Jeep Compass SUV as part of its export strategy. The SUV’s exported are right-hand drive units and the company has shipped its very first batch of 600 units of the Jeep Compass from the Bombay Port Trust facility to Australia and Japan. The Ranjangaon facility, where the SUV is procuced gets over 65% local content and will go to more International markets through the ongoing quarter of 2017.
Commenting on the defining moment, Gurpratap Boparai – Chief Executive Officer, Fiat India Automobiles Private Limited said, “Our resolve has been to ensure timely delivery of a world class product, made in India, to Indian as well as our International customers. We had planned to start shipping the India-made Jeep® Compass in the fourth quarter of this calendar year and we are on track. Soon, our Made-in-India Jeep® Compass will be seen on the roads in Australia and Japan, our first two right-hand drive export destinations. This is indeed a historic milestone for all of us at FIAPL.”

Our effort and intent has been to pace up our retail deliveries after the market launch, in time for the festive season, without losing sight of our exports for this year. We have added five more sales and service outlets since July taking our distribution reach now up to 55; closing this year with 60, as committed. We are looking forward to a strong 2018 when production will be at full pace delivering on target domestic and export numbers.
Just after the launch of the Jeep Compass, FCA rolled out the 2.0-litre Diesel variants that makes 173 PS and 350 Nm of peak torque, available in 4x2 and 4x4 versions of the Jeep® Compass. With a noticeable higher demand, it also begun deliveries of the Petrol DDCT (Dry Dual Clutch Technology), the 1.4-litre unit that comes mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission mated, developing 162 PS and 250 Nm Multi-Air Turbo Petrol powertrain. This transmission option is available only with the Multi-Air (Turbo Petrol) powertrain and is available in two trims – Limited 4x2 and Limited (O) 4x2.
Ensuring its commitment, FCA has also introduced a 3 year / 100,000 kms manufacturer warranty and a service cycle of 15,000 kms / 1 year with Jeep Compass, across its range. The company is also planning to increase its sales and service outlets up to 60 by 2017 year-end.
