Fiat India has launched a limited edition of its Linea sedan in the country. The Linea limited edition is christened as Fiat Linea Elegante and has been priced at Rs. 9.99 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, New Delhi). The Linea Elegante comes loaded with an array of new features in the interior cabin, while the exterior gets a new body kit. Though, the engine and transmission of the sedan remains unchanged.
Talking about the added features in detail, the Fiat Linea Elegante comes with a full bodykit which includes add-ons for the bumpers, side skirts, 16-inch alloy wheels, a black grille and roof, side body decals and a rear spoiler. The interior cabin boasts of a new 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment and navigation system. Additionally, the sedan has new carpets, door sills and seat covers as standard. The latest iteration of Linea was launched in March 2014, but the sales haven't seen growth. On an average, the Italian automajor has been able to retail a paltry 186 units of the Linea and Linea Classic jointly. The introduction of this limited edition might just boost the sales and could relieve the company.
Mechanically, the Linea Elegante is same as the regular model of Linea sedan. However, the limited edition Linea Elegante would be available in diesel guise. It comes loaded with the 1.3L multi-jet engine which generates a maximum power of 92bhp at 4,000 rpm and peak torque of 209 Nm at 2,000 rpm. The engine is coupled with a 5-speed manual transmission, while it returns an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 20.4kmpl. Just so you know, Fiat India would introduce its high-performance Abarth brand in India tomorrow - on August 4, 2015 - by launching the 595 Competizione at the Buddh International Circuit (BIC). It is expected to flaunt a sticker price of Rs. 27-30 Lakhs and would take on the Mini Cooper S.
