Italian carmaker Fiat is prepping to roll out an updated version of its flagship hatchback, the Punto that has dropped the ‘Grande’ moniker for the model year 2014 and instead, will be known as the Fiat Punto Evo. The refreshed Punto Evo is slated to make its official debut in the country on the 5th of August 2014 and the deliverers are set to commence immediately after the car’s launch.
The 2014 Fiat Punto Evo brings to the table a number of cosmetic as well as interior updates. The front fascia has been completely re-worked, which seems to be in-tune with the Avventura Concept that was seen at the 2014 Delhi Motor Show. It also gets modified front bumps, new grille, wrap-around headlamps and new fog lamps. On the inside, the Punto Evo gets a refreshed instrument console, rear parcel tray, rear AC vents, rear defogger and leather wrapped steering wheel.
Powering the 2014 Fiat Punto Evo will be the same set of engine options that serves the current model. Petrol engine range includes a 1.2-litre and a 1.4-litre units that puts out 67PS and 89PS of max power respectively. The diesel variants of the hatchback will make use of the 1.3-litre MultiJet engine that will be offered in two states of tune: one that is rated at 75PS and the other one is rated at 90PS. All the engines have been coupled to a 5-spread manual gearbox. The hatchback will be available in four trim levels: Active, Dynamic, Emotion and Sport.
In the Indian market, the Fiat Punto Evo will rival the likes of Maruti Suzuki Swift, Volkswagen Polo, Hyundai i20 and the upcoming Honda Jazz. Expect a sticker price ranging between Rs 5 lakh and Rs 8 lakh for the Punto Evo.
