Fiat India has been on a slow pace ever since it entered in Indian market. However, things are picking up now and the company has been working aggressively on resurrecting its presence in the Indian market and developing its Indian base as a major production hub across the world. The company recently announced that it would export its upcoming model, the Avventura after its India launch which is supposed to happen in second half of 2014. The company debuted the model at 2014 Auto Expo India last month alongside the Abarth 500.

The Avventura shares its mechanical platform with Punto hatchback utilising similar 1.3-litre MultiJet diesel and 1.4-litre FIRE series petrol engines, derived from the Linea. The basic body design will also be similar to the Punto but with different style changes like a tailgate mounted spare wheel, raised ground clearance, new alloy wheels and aggressive front styling to give the Avventura an exclusive appeal. The Avventura will compete against the Volkswagen Cross Polo and the upcoming Toyota Etios Cross in India.

The Avventura is expected to reach the Fiat outlets around third quarter of 2014 and to be priced around Rs. 50,000/- to Rs. 1,00,000/- above the Punto range. Presently, Fiat's portfolio consists only of two products – the Punto hatchback and Linea Sedan in India. While, the Linea recently got a facelift, the new refreshed Punto is on test and is expected to be launched soon in the country.
