Finally Production Spec RE Himalayan Spied completely!

Snapshot: This gives us clear indications that RE Himalayan will be very very interesting indeed!

Ever since we broke this news to the world way back in October 2014 that Royal Enfield is working on an adventure motorcycle design, the world has waited and waited and waited for the bike to arrive. However, as the launch nears its destiny, we have finally got hold of the clearest images yet of the production spec Royal Enfield Himalayan, and it looks promising!

The Royal Enfield Himalayan in the pictures is said to be the final production ready model dressed in a sweet shade of white and is rumoured to be launched in the same colour shade, depicting the white snow peaks of the Himalayan range from where it gets its name. The spied RE Himalayan has wire spoked wheels shod with knobbies that look good for on and off road travel usage.

Just like the Continental GT (that has been updated with a new Green shade) the bike with which major parts of the Himalayan's chassis are shared, the HImalayan sports a disc brake both at the front and at the rear. What we like the most about the rather thin and lean design is the fact that the mounts for jerry cans on either side of the fuel tank look incredibly well designed and thought off, showing how much thought and experience RE has put into the design of the bike.

The bike also seems to feature a long travel front and rear suspension as the swing-arm indicates the same. The bike features a Monoshock at the rear and it would be the first on any Royal Enfield in the market and monoshock suspension. There is also a decently-sized windshield, a front splash guard adding to the authentic adventure claim to the motorcycle. We also loved the black-and-silver panniers with black-painted mounts that seem to be the part of the package from the picture.

Saying that, it is rumoured that the Royal Enfield Himalayan might arrive in at least two variants where one will be a proper wire spoked adventure model (like the one pictured here) while the other will be a version more suited for touring purposes and would come with smaller tyres and alloy wheels. It is also expected that RE might introduce ABS on it its motorcycles for the first time ever with the Himalayan too.

On the engine front, it is almost certain now that the RE Himalayan will arrive with an all new engine that is a 431cc single-cylinder oil-cooled unit good enough to deliver upwards of 30bhp and above 35Nm of torque. The first ever pictures of which we reported a while back. Further the engine is supposed to be a Single Overhead Camshaft (SOHC) design with a 5-speed gearbox. However, none of the specs are confirmed as of now.

Expect the bike to cost around 2 lakhs Ex-Showroom Delhi when launched and should prove to be India's first home grown Adventure Tourer!

If only KTM realizes the need of a certain Duke 390 Adventure for India, If only!
