The first batch of 250 units of the Skoda Octavia RS has been sold out in India since its launch in September. However, the dealers of the performance-oriented sedan are accepting bookings for the next lot of deliveries, which is expected towards the beginning of next year.

The Skoda Octavia RS is a premium sedan and is the most powerful car from the Czech automaker in the country till date. Even before its launch, it had created a lot of buzz which may have boosted the sale thus far. It comes with a newly designed exterior, a premium interior, is stacked with latest technologies and a powerful engine mechanism.

The Indian-spec performance-oriented car has received notable changes over the standard version, visually as well as technically. The subtle design changes feature a revised bumper, a butterfly grille with chrome outline and larger 17-inch alloy wheels. Inside the car, the major attraction is the wrapping of seats with Alcantara leather, which provides a sporty look along with red stitching. Moreover, a touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility is fitted at the center of the dashboard.

The India-bound sedan is the most powerful product from the automaker, thanks to the powerful engine mechanism under the hood. It is powered by a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine that churns out a maximum power output of 230 bhp against a peak torque of 350 Nm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed DSG automatic gearbox to transmit the developed power to the front wheels. The car can accelerate from a standstill position to a speed of 100 kmph in just 6.8 seconds and records a top speed of 250 kmph.

The Skoda Octavia RS is priced at Rs. 24.62 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai). It still awaits a direct rival since sporty versions of sedans aren't very popular in India. It, however, competes with the likes of Hyundai Elantra, Toyota Corolla Altis and Volkswagen Passat in the country. However, it is believed that the success of the car will make way for similar products in future.
