The first batch of Revotron petrol engines, that will power the new Tata Nexon compact SUV, has been dispatched from the Sanand manufacturing unit of the Tata Motors. The engines will be shipped to the Tata-Fiat manufacturing plant in Ranjangaon, where the final product is built.
The Indian-spec Tata Nexon will offer a fresh design, which is very appealing and impactful. The front look replicates the Bolt hatchback and is equipped with similar headlamps. The side profile comes with a sloping roof and a sharp crease from the belt-line gives it an attractive look. The most attractive part is the large 16-inch wheels that add to the sportiness.
The inside cabin of the new SUV is equipped with the latest technology and resembles a contemporary look. The three-spoke steering wheel can also be controlled with voice commands. A new instrument called Cluster, with twin dials containing driver information system has been introduced. The 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system is equipped with navigation controls, reverse camera viewer, Bluetooth and USB connectivity.
The Tata Nexon has been introduced with two engine options- diesel and petrol. The diesel variant is powered by a 1.5-litre motor, which produces a maximum power of 110 bhp and a peak torque of 250 Nm. On the other hand, the petrol unit has a 1.2-litre Revotron engine to develop a maximum power output of 110 bhp and a peak torque of 170 Nm. Both the engines come mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox, while the AMT is also expected to be introduced soon.
The Nexon is expected to be priced at Rs. 6.5 lakh (ex-showroom) to Rs. 10 lakh (ex-showroom). It is expected to be launched sometime during this festive season this year and this will be the first compact SUV to be launched from Tata Motors. Once launched, it will be up against the likes of the popular Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Renault Duster etc.
