Volkswagen India has delivered the first unit of recently launched Tiguan SUV in the country. It was delivered to Mr. Sundaresan Mallikarjun Duggu at the Volkswagen Hyderabad dealership. The Tiguan was launched in India on May 24, 2017 and has received a great response since its launch. Being based on the modern MQB (Modular Transverse Matrix) platform, the SUV was priced at Rs. 27.68 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, Mumbai). Volkswagen Tiguan is available in two trims Comfortline and Highline across all the company authorized dealerships in India.
The Tiguan is packed with several class leading premium lifestyle features like Pedestrian Safety (Active Hood), 6 Airbags, Hill Start Assist, Auto Hold, Self-sealing tyres, ‘Vienna’ leather seats, Cruise Control, AppConnect, Rain and Light sensor, LED Headlamps with DRLs, LED tail-lamps, Easy open boot, Electrically foldable ORVM, LED illuminated Panoramic Sunroof and Keyless Entry & Go among others. The SUV is powered by a 2.0L TDI diesel engine with peak power of 140bhp and highest torque of 340 Nm ranging from 1750-2750 rpm with a superior fuel efficiency of 17.06 kmpl (ARAI tested). The engine is linked to a 7-speed automatic-DSG transmission with the the Volkswagen 4MOTION intelligent AWD system as standard.
Meanwhile, the German automaker is readying the 2017 Polo hatchback, which is expected to debut and enter production this month. The company has even dropped a teaser image of the new-generation Polo, which reveals the silhouette of the new hatch. Underpinning the Volkswagen Group's MQB A0 architecture, it would be bigger and larger than the ongoing model. The interior cabin would be a few notches premium with the possible addition of 12.3-inch Active Info Display (fully-digital instrument cluster). It would be offered with both petrol and diesel engines with manual and automatic transmissions, while production would firstly commence at the Navarra facility in Spain.
