The Ford EcoSport all-wheel-drive version (AWD) with left-hand drive has been spied testing in Coimbatore. It is said to be here for testing purpose only, with no intentions to launch it in India (as of now). Going by the Ford EcoSport AWD images, it looks similar to the front wheel drive version retailed in India.
At the front, it gets a twin-slat grille, pulled back headlamps with L-shaped LED daytime running lights. It misses out on the spare-wheel mounted on the tail-gate. The badging on the rear indicates the spotted variant is the SE trim. Key elements on the outside as seen in the images include alloy wheels at sides with silver finishing, disc brakes at the front as well as rear.
Akin to the India-spec variant, the Ford EcoSport AWD LHD interior get the floating touchscreen infotainment system. The AWD version of EcoSport is currently available in Brazil and UK markets. Coming to the For EcoSport AWD specifications, it gets 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine good for a maximum power of 168 bhp against a peak torque of 202 Nm. It produces 6bhp more when running on Ethanol at 174 bhp against 221 Nm torque, whereas transmission duties are handled by a six-speed automatic unit. On the other hand, the standard SE variant comes with a 1.5-litre petrol unit with a five-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed automatic transmission.
As for the Indian market, the company recently launched Ford Aspire Blu Edition in the country with prices starting at Rs 7.50 lakh (ex-showroom). The Aspire Blu Edition is based on the Titanium variant and is available in petrol as well as diesel options with a manual transmission. One must note prices for the Aspire Blu Edition are introductory and shall be revised in future.
