The all-new Ford EcoSport Signature Edition was spotted testing without camouflage on Chennai highway, which suggests that the American automaker might be preparing to launch a limited edition of the EcoSport in India soon.
The Ford EcoSport compact SUV has been one of the best selling vehicles in the country, which has received a facelift in 2017. And now with this special edition, Ford is likely to bring some freshness in its line-up.
The spy images of the test variant reveal the 'Signature' Edition badging on the tailgate. The model gets a sportier look and new 17-inches dual-tone alloy wheels. Besides, there are a few minor tweaks to the exterior and some subtle changes to the front profile.
The signature edition is likely to be based on the top-spec Titanium or Titanium+ variants. The interiors will get some minor updates and will feature Ford’s new SYNC 3 infotainment system that is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The powertrains are likely to be same as the existing variants. The existing models of EcoSport are offered with a 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder Dragon Series petrol unit and a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder diesel unit. The petrol variant produces a maximum power output of 121 bhp and a peak torque of 150 Nm, while the diesel engine develops a highest power of 99 bhp and a maximum torque of 205 Nm. The transmission options will include a 5-speed manual gearbox on both engines, while a 6-speed automatic gearbox will be available only on the petrol variant.
Currently, the outgoing Ford EcoSport takes on the likes of the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Creta and Tata Nexon in the Indian market. With the new Signature Edition coming, Ford is likely to have an advantage over its rivals in the market.
