Ford India has silently introduced ABS and EBD to the Trend variant of the Figo hatchback and the compact sedan Aspire. Earlier, the Titanium and Titanium+ variants were offered with Anti-lock braking system (ABS) and electronic brake-force distribution (EBD) while the Trend variant of both the models earlier come packed with dual front airbags.
Now, Ford has introduced ABS and EBD in the the the Trend variant as well, now the base and the Ambiente trim of the Figo, and the Ambiente variant of the Aspire are the only variants that misses out these features.
Mechanically, both Figo and Aspire are offered in petrol and diesel options. The petrol variants are 1.2-litre Ti-VCT Petrol Engine that produces 87 bhp of maximum power and an impressive fuel economy of 18.16 km per litrel, and 1.5-litre Ti-VCT Petrol Engine that delivers 110 bhp of top power and is offered with 6-Speed PowerShift AT. While the diesel variant gets a 1.5-litre TDCi Diesel Engine that belts out 99 bhp of power with 215 Nm of top torque. The manual transmission is available in both 1.2 litre petrol and 1.5 litre diesel variants.
We already informed you that the government of India is planning to make airbags and ABS across all models. And with that various car manufacturers are adding both passive and active safety features to their product lineup. Volkswagen recently announced standardization of ABS and Dual Airbags across all variants of Polo and Vento, whereas Ford has also made Dual airbags standard across all variants of its compact SUV EcoSport.
