Ford India has rolled out the first Figo Aspire compact sedan from its Sanand production facility in Gujrat. The new sub 4-meter sedan would go on sale in August 2015, while the advance bookings would start by next month. In fact, certain company dealers have started the bookings at a token amount of Rs. 50000. Ford Figo Aspire would join the existing crop of compact sedans like Maruti Swift Dzire, Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent and Tata Zest.
Kel Kearns, Site Plant Manager, Ford Sanand Plant, said, “It is fantastic to produce an exciting new product for customers in India and our export markets. This is going to be yet another game changer for Ford. Figo Aspire has been built to meet Ford’s high global standards of design, quality and performance, and is a true demonstration of the One Ford Plan." Just so you know, Ford Figo Aspire would be the only sedan in its segment to come with 6-airbags, which include side and curtain airbags in addition to the driver and co-driver airbags. Additionally, the sedan is also going to feature couple of exquisite features in form of automatic climate control and Ford’s SYNC multimedia system.
Ford India would display Figo Aspire at 40 shopping malls in 25 top tier cities across the nation, prior to its launch in August 2015. Mechanically, it would be available in both petrol as well as diesel fuel trims. The petrol variants would be powered by a 1.2L TiVCT petrol engine, linked to a 5-speed manual transmission. However, the company would also offer a top-end variant with 1.5L petrol motor, and it would be coupled with a 6-speed Powershift dual-clutch transmission. As for diesel variants, they would get the 1.5-liter TDCi diesel, mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. For those asking, Ford has roped-in Bollywood Actor/Director Farhan Akhtar as the brand ambassador for the Figo Aspire sedan.
