Ford Figo has always been an indispensable vehicle for the company in the Indian market. It has been constantly bagging orders in excess of 2000 units on a monthly basis. But, what raised several eyebrows was the fact that Ford India sold a petty 151 units of the car in December 2014 as compared to previous sales figures. But, the Figo is back with a bang on the right track, and the company sold 2056 units of the hatchback in January 2015.

The slump in Figo sales in December is said to be because of a rumour which claimed that it would be discontinued abruptly in the country. Also, some reports even claimed that Ford India has started the production of refreshed Figo hatch at its Sanand, Gujrat production facility and it would be launched by March 2015. Several spy-shots of the car being tested with minimum camouflage on the Indian roads also strengthened this rumour.
But, now the numbers are back at its usual level and that is, indeed, a rejoicing news for the company, which had been struggling for sales in the country. Ford India, after the inauguration of its Sanand plant in Gujarat by the end of March 2015 (Tentative), would commence the production of new Figo and a compact sedan based on it.
On the other hand, Ecosport continued to rake in some impressive sales numbers for the US-based automajor as around 4288 units of the sub-compact SUV were sold in January 2015. The Fiesta mid-sized sedan and the Classic entry-level sedan, jointly, sold a paltry 301 units. The flagship product of the company - Endeavour SUV - sold a mere 3 units in January 2015.
But, the unprecedented rise in the sales of Figo certainly came to Ford's rescue and it managed a respectable sales figures in the month of January.
