As most of you know, Ford is resurrecting the GT nameplate for a brand new supercar scheduled to go on sale towards the end of next year. The official word coming from the Blue Oval says its EcoBoost V6 3.5-liter twin turbocharged engine is good enough for more than 600 bhp. However, now we might have the final numbers as the stats mentioned in Forza Motorsport 6 say the new GT will have 630 bhp and a maximum torque of 730 Nm. All that power will be channeled to the road with help from a dual clutch seven-speed gearbox that will have “near-instantaneous gear changes.”
Keep in mind these are not official numbers released by Ford, so the real car could have a different output. However, taking into account that Ford worked closely with Turn 10 Studios to have the new GT featured in the video game, chances are these could be the real power figures for the highly anticipated supercar which America really needed to try and match the European offerings.
Production of the Ford GT will be limited to only 250 units per year and each will carry a starting price similar to the Lamborghini Aventador. Ford promises the vehicle is going to “exhibit one of the best power-to-weigh ratios of any production car” and they already said most of the concept’s design will be carried over.
It could be a little bit tricky to purchase the car even if you have the necessary funds as a Ford dealership recently said there is going to be a unique ordering process that will open up early next year. It seems prospect buyers will have to “apply” for the chance to purchase the vehicle and it seems Ford will prioritize orders coming from loyal customers, especially those who own the previous generation of the model.
