Ford India, the wholly owned subsidiary of American automajor, Ford Motor Company saw a rise in the sales department by 27 percent in the month of August 2014. The company sold a total of 14,092 units including the exports in the month of August against the 11,065 units that were being sold last year same month.
The exports played a crucial role in this exceptional hike as the company exported 7,291 units against the 3,057 units that it exported last year in the same month. The domestic sales, however, regsitered de-growth as 6,801 units were sold in August 2014 as compared to 8,008 units delivered to buyers in Augusyt 2013. Vinay Piparsania, executive director of Marketing, Sales and Service, Ford India said, “We anticipate a continued revival in customer sentiments as we lead up to the festive season and are prepared to meet the higher demand for our cars, including the popular Ford EcoSport,” He further added, “Alongside planning for a third-shift at our Chennai plant, we have significantly reduced the waiting period for most variants of the Ford EcoSport to ensure that more and more customers can drive into the festival season with their favorite urban SUV,”
The company ecstatic with the way the exports have fared, released a press note, which stated “The positive response to the Chennai-made Ford EcoSport across the globe validates and further strengthens Ford India’s credentials as a world-class manufacturing hub.” As known, the Ford EcoSport compact SUV also became the elite member of '1 Lakh Club' in August 2014 when over 1 Lakh units of the sub-4 metre SUV were sold including the export sales. Being locally assembled at Ford's Chennai plant, this SUV has been in immense demand ever since its arrival not only in India but it has also been exported to various international markets like South Africa, Taiwan, Australia and several European countries.
