Ford India has announced 3 percent growth in domestic sales by selling 8,548 units in the month of August 2016 as against 8,331 units corresponding month last year. The company has registered a combined domestic exports and wholesales grew up from 21,520 vehicles in August 2015 to 26,408 vehicles in August.
The export sales grew to 17,860 units for the month as against the 13,189 units last year. In fact, Zoomcar, which is country's leading self-drive car rental company that offers car sharing services announced that it had come up with the Series B investment round of about $24 million. While Ford Motor Company’s subsidiary, Ford Smart Mobility LLC led the round alongside other existing investors.
Speaking on this, Anurag Mehrotra, executive director, Marketing, Sales & Service, Ford India said, "Our increasing export numbers and strong domestic sales prove that the vehicles we build in India are true global products that appeal to customers in India and around the world".
He also added, "As part of our transition into an auto and mobility company, the investment in Zoomcar provides Ford with immediate entry into the mobility services space in India. It's our vision to make it easier for people to move in cities using multiple modes of transportation," said Mehrotra.
Just to add to your knowledge, Ford slashed down the prices for its hatchback Ford and compact sedan Ford Aspire. Moreover, after the ban on diesel car registration was lifted, the company has also started selling the Toyota Fortuner rival and the most capable SUV Ford Endeavour in Delhi/NCR.
