Ford India have reported to have clocked more than double the sales in May 2014 at 12,288 vehicles as compared to the 5,993 units sold in the corresponding period last year. The increase in sales translates to a massive 51 per cent rise in sales. Domestic sales stood at 6,053 units in May, which is up by 51 per cent from 4,002 vehicles sold in May 2013. The exports too, hit 6,235 unit last month, as against 1,991 units that were shipped out in the year-ago period.

Commenting on the positive sales graph, Vinay Piparsania, executive director of marketing, sales & service at Ford India said, “A stable government is a positive development for overall economic and business sentiment in the country. We are hopeful that the new government will support on-going industry-friendly initiatives like the excise duty reduction and look at further positive measures to improve consumer sentiment.”

“We would look forward to the new government undertaking measures such as introduction of GST, rationalisation of taxes and encourage foreign investment to promote sustained growth of the economy and the automotive sector.” Piparsania further added.

In May, Ford India reopened bookings for all variants of the hugely popular, Ford EcoSport compact urban SUV. Since its launch, the Ford EcoSport has received an enthusiastic response from customers and garnered record bookings thanks to its robust drive dynamics, quirky styling, smart technology and completive pricing.

“With over 50,000 units of the EcoSport delivered, we have significantly reduced the waiting period and are pleased to extend the opportunity to book the Ford EcoSport to more customers.” Piparsania concluded.
