Ford India have reported a 36 per cent increase in total sales at 11,935 units in the month of June 2014. The company had sold 8,771 units in the same month last year.
In the domestic market alone, sales were up by 1.58 per cent at 7,258 units in June as against 7,145 units sold in the same month last year. In terms of exports, the company reportedly, shipped 4,677 units last month.
Ford India executive director of marketing, sales & service, Vinay Piparsania said, “The government’s decision to extend the excise duty concession is a welcome move and will certainly uplift consumer purchasing sentiments as we head into the festive season over the next few months. It reflects the government’s recognition of the importance of the manufacturing sector and its contrition to overall economic growth.”
In the month of June, Ford India rolled out the all-new 2014 Ford Fiesta sedan with prices starting at Rs 7.69 lakh for the Ambiente variant and going up to Rs 9.29 lakh for the top-end Titanium variant. The mid-level, Trend variant on the other hand, has been priced at Rs 8.56 lakh (All prices are ex-showroom, New Delhi.) All the three variants of the new Fiesta comes powered by the 1.5-litre Duratorq diesel engine that is rated at 91PS and 204Nm.
